WFU students will see familiar bylines in a variety of publications in the run-up to the 2020 election. Jordan Green, a senior editor at the Triad City Beat, has been publishing in The Daily Beast, Triad City Beat, and Indy Week. Meanwhile, Barry Yeoman, a freelance magazine journalist based in Durham, is covering North Carolina election-related news for The Washington Post. Wake Students Provide Election Coverage for 88.5 FM WFDD

A group of Wake Forest students are contributing to 88.5 FM WFDD’s election coverage this year. They are part of a new class taught by reporter Paul Garber that teaches the fundamentals of radio journalism for the NPR-affiliated station. Prof. Mandy Locke to Head COVID-19 Project

Journalism professor Mandy Locke will be leading a team of journalists from 22 daily newspapers to capture the stories of economic struggle and survival in the wake of COVID-19. The North Carolina News Collaborative won a Pulitzer Center grant to allow Locke to manage the project. Locke, an investigative journalist, looks forward to using data and surveys to find the communities that best tell these stories.

Durham writer Barry Yeoman to teach Magazine Writing

Barry Yeoman, a freelance magazine journalist based in Durham, North Carolina, has joined the adjunct journalism faculty to teach Magazine Writing. Yeoman’s reporting has taken him around the world, from a coastline in India where industrialization threatens traditional fishing families to a training ground in North Carolina for private soldiers on secret missions.
