Mariama Jallow, Class of 2022, Interns for North Carolina Health News

I started interning at North Carolina Health News this summer and continued through the Fall semester. At NC Health News, I have pitched stories and interviewed people all over North Carolina on health-related issues in the hopes of having an impact on communities and introducing different perspectives to topics ranging from mental health to the COVID pandemic.

I started thinking about writing this story during a class I took in spring 2021 with Professor Jordan Green. We were looking into all COVID-19 related deaths in Forsyth County and Muhammad Siddiqui was one of the names we found. After getting into contact with his son, I spoke with him and his sister for hours to compile this tribute to their father.
