The film, Welcome(d), is a short advocacy film produced for Every Campus a Refuge (ECAR) at Wake Forest. The film charts the story of two refugees who emigrated from war-torn countries, the difficulties they experienced upon arriving in America, and how ECAR at Wake Forest was able to connect them with a support system and the resources to build a better life in Winston-Salem. Welcome(d) was produced by Will Zimmerman (’23), Rowan Henchy (’25), Parker Beverly (’23, MFA ’25), and Hope Zhu (’25) under the tutelage and mentorship of Ammar Basha, Yemini filmmaker and artist-in-resident at Wake Forest. The film premiered in October of 2023 at the ECAR Gathering hosted by Wake Forest in Winston-Salem.
